Just Checking In – I’m Still Here

So, after vanishing for over two weeks and falling even further behind on my summer 2023 episode reviews, I wanted to make a quick post just to check in. Doing this is a way for me to remind and inspire myself to get to back to working on the blog. I can only hope it works. I have a lot to catch up on. The main issue is that I have ADHD and I find it more difficult than most people to focus on something when my hyperfixation lies elsewhere. Nevertheless, I’ll start trying to catch up on episode reviews.

On a random note, in the midst of mostly playing minecraft on a public server, I did watch a bit of an anime that I hadn’t seen before: Cells at Work, or Hataraku Saibou. I only watched about 6 episodes so far, but loved it! I find myself wondering why the hell I never checked out this anime before. The most engaging part of it for me right away was the Japanese voice-acting. I recognized nearly every seiyuu’s voice and could name about half of them. It was delightful to hear so many beloved voices, including Kana Hanazawa as Red Blood Cell, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Dendritic Cell, and Daisuke Ono as Killer T Cell.

Besides the voice-acting, Cells At Work is also enjoyable for its high educational value. It teaches a lot about cellular biology in humans, focusing mostly on the immune system. Most of is accurate what from I what I remember in biology classes, and the show has also received high praise from Dr. Mike, a real physician who somehow has time for making YouTube videos now and then. Cells at Work is definitely one of the best educational anime series out there.

The character designs in Cells at Work are also great. I especially like the Red Blood Cell uniform and some of the designs for the “monsters” (germs). Maybe I’ll continue watching this series at some point, as it was highly entertaining and colorful. However, for now, I need to focus on catching up to the Summer 2023 anime series I already started covering. Fall is right around the corner, after all. I can’t afford to slack off forever.

That’s all for today. Thanks so much for reading! Wish me luck on finding the energy and motivation to get back to my episode reviews.
