Tower of God Season 2 Episode 19 – Epic Fight and After-Party

Today at Anime Rants, we’re covering Tower of God season 2 episode 19. The workshop battle continues, and the next match is intense. It’s Anaak versus Ran. Find out what happened in this episode review.

Episode 19: All In

Episode Rating: 9/10

This episode contained the most impressive fight scene of the second season, in my humble opinion. The battle between Anaak and Ran was beautiful and exciting. Not only was the animation great, but the choreography was also excellent and the explosions of power were stunning. The music was a great addition, as well. This fight made me so happy to watch. I like both characters, but I was mostly rooting for Anaak this time.

(She’s insane)

Before we talk about winners and losers, let’s go backstage to Beta and Viole. According to Beta, Viole is the “finished product” of a human-weapon hybrid. That’s why he’s so valuable to FUG. Beta also implies that Viole himself is the “prize” for the workshop battle. Viole confirms this later with Emily. Knowing that he’s some kind of humanoid weapon doesn’t seem to bother Viole, but he does want to know more about the experiments and his own powers.

(Beta)

Back to the battle, Anaak and Ran are basically evenly matched, though the lizard girl is slightly stronger. Ran compensates by eating a Lightning Pill that lets him use extremely powerful lightning and speed for five minutes. Instead of waiting for the five minutes to end, Anaak keeps charging straight in, trying to best her opponent in close combat. Because of her refusal to play it cool, she was soon hit by lightning and knocked to the ground with a serious injury.

(Ran’s lightning fist)

Khun is sure that Ran has won, but to everyone’s surprise, Anaak gets back on her feet. She taunts Ran into continuing the fight. The tides might have turned, and Anaak might have won if things had continued. But just then, Paracule interrupted the duel and made them both misfire their attacks. Ran and Anaak were rendered unconscious and immediately disqualified from advancing in the tournament. This isn’t good.

(Damn you, Paracule!)

That night, the Workshop hosted a party to celebrate the tournament. Viole goes to find Beta. (He looks dashing in a suit and tie.) After he was found by Viole, Beta revealed some important information. The demonic object that was combined with Viole is called a Thorn, but it’s actually a replica of the more powerful original Thorn. This “real” Thorn is being kept by Workshop. If FUG can win it, they plan to give it to Viole, thus making him more powerful than ever – but still their puppet. If Viole wants to secure the Thorn without serving FUG, he will have to steal it himself.

(Viole in a suit!)

Elsewhere, Hatz encounters a robot guard that attacks him. He defeats it with a steel pipe, but then it starts to self-destruct. Luckily, Lero Ro appears and disarms the explosive robot. I barely remember Lero Ro, if I’m being honest, but he seems cool. He tells Hatz that he’s here to destroy an extremely dangerous weapon before it falls into the wrong hands. Hatz seems willing to help. I suspect Lero Ro is talking about the weapon developed by Sophia, which could be the Thorn. We don’t know yet.

(Lero Ro)

The hosts of the tournament held a meeting where they spoke with the team leaders. Khun made an impressive case as to why Anaak and Ran should not be disqualified. Before their fight, Ran requested a one-on-one duel. The host at the time agreed to honor the request. Since Paracule interrupted the duel, he’s the one who should not be allowed to advance. The helmeted host accepts Khun’s argument and proposes a new tournament. We’ll have to wait till next week for details.

(Khun wears a disguise when he attends the meeting)

During the after-party, Rak goes off on his own to find “the black turtle.” Yihwa accompanies him, trying to convince him not to make trouble. They run into Endorsi, who is also looking for Bam. Just then, the young man appears before them. In an incredibly sweet little scene, Rak jumps at Bam and hugs him, knocking him over with the force. He sheds a few glimmering tears as he’s finally reunited with his old companion. The episode ends on that wholesome note.

(Such a sweet moment)
