Welcome. This episode was slightly difficult to get through because the plot was so convoluted. Even when I understood most of what was happening, I didn’t feel very excited. This anime is failing to make me care about what happens. It’s probably because the second season just hasn’t been good overall. There are way too many characters, too many subpar fight scenes, and not enough development of what really matters (like the relationships between team members).
Regardless of the problems, I’ll offer my thoughts on episode 21. Note that this will probably be a short review since I don’t have a lot I want to discuss.

Episode 21: The Beginning of Dawn
Episode Rating: 6/10
After brutally stabbing his prisoner, Beta tosses Bam off the edge of a huge precipice. Miraculously, he survives the fall and the massive blood loss, waking up at the bottom of the cliff. Shinsu restraints are keeping Bam locked in place, and he can’t use his own Shinsu to break free. Reflejo appears and tells Bam that he will soon be melted down into a new weapon: the most powerful human-weapon hybrid ever made. FUG will wield this tool for their nefarious purposes.

Meanwhile, Hatz was sent by Lero Ro to tell Khun and company about Bam’s plight. After ome discussion, everyone on team Mad Dog now knows that Viole is Bam and that he needs to be rescued before he turns into a weapon of mass destruction. Randomly, Khun has a quick conversation with a character from the first season named Mia. She tells him he doesn’t need to keep hiding his face now. I don’t remember Mia, but she’s an incredibly hot snake lady. (Would smash, no questions asked.)

As Mia suggested, Khun stopped using his metallic mask. It was cool to see him go back to his original look. In proper anime fashion, he takes a dramatic shower and comes out looking as handsome as ever with his iconic pale-blue hair and striking eyes. For some reason, Shibisu is there for the whole scene, apparently unfazed by the naked young prince. That was slightly weird, but I guess there was no sexual tension because those two are like bros. (I’ve been watching too much BL?)

Anyway, Lero Ro is helping the cause by sending Hatz to deliver messages. He also distracts the FUG rankers on board the Archimedes by breaking the detainees out of the prison cells. Anyone who was trying to rescue Emily – like Traveler from the beginning of this arc – is now free. In addition, Novick is working with Kang and Yuto to help save Bam as well. So, apparently Yuto really did care about Bam and has betrayed FUG.

Hatz tells Khun that, according to Lero Ro, they can only save Bam by operating within the rules of the semifinals contest. If they try to break the rules in any way, the FUG Rankers will intervene. Khun’s plan is to summon Bam using the summoning pools on the island. This should be allowed, assuming they summon “Twenty-fifth Bam” and not “Jue Viole Grace,” who has already dropped out of the running.

As the semifinals begin, tension is thick in the air. Wangnan is sent first with Quaetro to run to the summoning caves. This is where the episode ends. Only a few installments remain in the Workshop Battle Arc. Thanks for joining me for this episode review.
