Tower of God Season 2 Episode 22 Review – Bam Takes Action!

Thank you for visiting Anime Rants with 7Mononoke. Tower of God‘s latest episode was fairly good, with several cool character moments and lots of action. My favorite part of the episode was when Bam/Viole decided not to wait around for rescue. He took matters into his own hands. Let’s recap what happened.

Episode 22: Their Workshop

Episode Rating: 7/10

The semifinals begin: a match that will end with only four players allowed to move on to the final round. There are several small teams. Two members of Team Snake attack the group that’s on their way to summon Viole. Rak and Yihwa engaged the enemies while letting Wangnan and Quaetro run ahead. As usual, Yihwa is pathetic and gets quickly knocked down. (I really wish there were more tough girls in this series – or at least girls that are useful in some way.)

The man who knocked Yihwa to the ground begins to sexually threaten her, implying that he’ll spare her if she lets him fuck her. No matter how much I despise Yihwa, she doesn’t deserve that, so it was very satisfying when Rak returned to his giant form and punched the pervert enemy with full force. Nice job being an ally of women, Rak Wraithraiser! He may see everyone else as turtles, but some turtles need defending.

Someone from FUG gives Beta a strange worm to swallow. It will give him extra power, but it could also possess him like a demon if he’s not careful. Beta swallows the worm and soon encounters an enemy. While Beta fights Vesper, Quaetro fights another enemy who nearly ambushed Wangnan. (It’s surprising, but Quaetro seems to want Wangnan to live, despite his own warning against relying on friends.) Wangnan runs ahead alone.

Meanwhile, Viole/Bam is still being restrained at the bottom of the cliff with the giant Thorn of Enryu hovering above him. Viole realizes that if he just waits around, he is no different from when he was a weakling who waited around for Rachel. So, he decides not to wait, but to redouble his efforts to escape. As he strains, Viole starts to unlock a new power: he is the true master of the Thorn of Enryu. He breaks free of his bonds. The huge thorn shrinks down to a small size and floats by Viole’s side.

While this is happening, Yuto appears and has a standoff with Reflejo. She takes off her helment, revealing the fact that she’s the mystical Guide, Hwaryun. She’s been preparing for this day since the very beginning, when her faction put a red thorn fragment into Viole’s body. Now, he can become as powerful as a god, and he will be control of himself rather than a tool of FUG.

The “Mad Dog” and the enemy girl who resembles an angel (name unknown) are now trying to kill Viole. However, Novick, Ryun, and Kang are to help him survive long enough to be summoned. Speaking of the summoning, Wangnan finally reached the pool for the ritual. He briefly contacts Viole over a video call, getting teary-eyed from the happiness of seeing his friend alive and well.

Just then, Beta appears and stabs Wangnan from behind. Unless someone with healing powers can get to him quickly, Wangnan’s life is in serious danger, and the plan to summon Viole has failed. That’s where the episode leaves off. To be continued.
