Welcome to Anime Rants! My interest in Tower of God over the last few episodes has been quite “bipolar,” from being cranky and sick of it all to being genuinely excited about the previous installment. As for the final episode, it was surprisingly enjoyable. I loved seeing everyone reunite and spend time with Bam. I also have a few other notes to share in this episode review, so let’s rant.
Episode 26: The Dawn of the Departure
Episode Rating: 7/10
The first item to mention is the character of Po Bidau Gustang, that mysterious dude who smokes and uses a radio. This man is the head of one of the Ten Great Families (presumably the Gustang family). For the entirety of the Workshop conspiracy, Gustang was watching FUG and their corrupt deals. Thanks to Gustang, FUG called off their Regulars, telling them to stop attacking Lero’s group as they fled. And after escaping, Wangnan and his team were named the winners of the Workshop Battle.

From this, we can gather that some of the Ten Families act as safeguards to stop powerful crime organizations and conspiracies. This means they may be less evil than I previously thought. Tower of God can be so complicated. With all this scheming and intrigue among groups, it’s even more surprising and wholesome when a character like Wangnan takes the spotlight. He’s earnest and honest to a fault. He’s a nobody who has nothing to do with the Great Families or the broader world of the Tower.

Or at least, that’s what I thought until recently. But in this episode, some characters speculate that Wangnan may be the true Prince of the Tower. I don’t know what that means exactly, but there are definitely weird things about Wangnan. He has a Zahad Ring that may have special powers, for instance. Also, despite being pierced through the heart, Wangnan completely recovered in a few days. He’s uncannily quick at regeneration. And now that he’s awake, Wangnan is eager to keep climbing the Tower.

On the night before Wangnan woke up, there were some good celebration moments. Shibisu got drunk and everyone ate together. There was an especially cute part where the scene cuts to a big futon or bed of some sort. Bam and Rak are fast asleep on the mattress, and Khun lies beside them with a slight smile. He’s so happy to have Bam back. Sometimes, I think about shipping Khun and Bam; but even if that’s not your thing, it’s at least canon that they love each other as friends.

There were a few other important scenes. That handsome guy from FUG had a brief talk with Karaka, who I expect will be a major antagonist if there is a third season. The point of the talk was to say that Viole may soon be their enemy. Also, Kang Horyang is still unconscious. His demon powers were stripped away by Cassano. Furthermore, since Cassano is in possession of Emily, everyone is worried how he will use this weapon. Anyway, I just wanted to mention those events briefly before moving on to another one of my favorite parts in the episode: the date.

Bam finally went on a date with Endorsi despite not fully understanding what real dating usually means. I enjoyed watching their time together. They went to a movie and then to a café. Since Rak, Prince and Miseng were spying, Endorsi took Bam to a private park-like area with a beautiful tree. There, she kissed him flirtatiously on the cheek. It was a cute and romantic scene. I know I’m a simp, but Endorsi is so hot and amazing, lol. Bam doesn’t know how lucky he is!

Getting back to more serious matters, Bam’s group wants to track down Cassano, who is almost certainly a strong enemy now. They don’t know where to start, so they ask Hwaryun. She says Bam’s group can find Cassano on floor 34 at the Hell Train, which is a test for becoming D-Rank Regulars. Reaching the Hell Train becomes the new group goal. Khun will be joining Viole’s group. As for Shibisu, Anaak, and the other members of that team, Khun tells them to investigate Rachel while they compete separately.

In the last scene, Bam asks Khun to cut his long hair. I preferred his long-haired look, but the haircut was still a cool way to mark the start of a new life with caring companions. And that’s the end of Tower of God Season 2. I will eventually write a review for this season, but it might take me a few months to get around to it. Thanks for your patience and general readership.

Ending Note: there is a short after-credits scene that you shouldn’t miss. It shows Cassano meeting with Rachel and bringing Emily with him. Rachel smiles and says it’s time to “save” the Tower. I don’t know exactly what she’s planning, but knowing Rachel, it probably has nothing to do with saving anyone. It’s probably about her own selfish ego. I guess we’ll find out if there’s ever a third season.

Yeah, Rachel is definitely up to no good. I was kind of hoping to see more of her this season, because she’s a really good villain, but maybe she will pop up more next season. I loved seeing the original trio snoozing together, it was so sweet and wholesome. Khun totally has a crush on Bam! As for Bam’s haircut, I kind of liked the long hair better. It gave Bam a clearly different look from his short-cut level 1 self, showing that he had grown and changed. Though maybe the long hair was just for Viole and his short hair cut is to show that he’s no longer Viole and he’s back to being Bam again? Wangnan’s ring has had so many close up shots this season that it has to be really important to the story in some way. The Prince of the Tower has been mentioned quite a few times, yet so far we haven’t really gotten any details of what that means. Is that the boy version of the Princesses of Jahad? Does that mean Wangnan will get super powers like the princesses got? We really need a third season to answer these questions!
