Greetings and thanks for visiting Anime Rants. In this episode, the action and main storyline picked up, leading to several important moments for the characters. As Neko investigated Osoto’s hidden room, she finally remembered what happened to her in reality. Let’s review what went down in Tasokare Hotel episode 10.
Episode 10: The Hidden Room
Episode Rating: 7/10
At the end of a conversation at the bar, Osoto accidentally brushed by Neko too closely, hitting her side. This triggered Neko’s memory of being stabbed in the real world. She was walking home from a concert, when the person behind her on the road “bumped into her” and left a knife in her side. Neko had collapsed on the ground, bleeding. She still couldn’t remember if she was alive or dead in reality.

A bit later, Neko went to make the bed in Osto’s room. She discovered a hidden room behind the back wall. It was a creepy room that looked like the place Osoto tormented his victims. Neko read the diary she found there and learned about Osoto’s progression from animal cruelty to serial human murder. There was an entry about him stabbing a teenage girl who looked exactly like Neko. That’s when Neko realized it was Osoto who stabbed her. She also remembered that she was still alive.

While in the creepy room, Neko found evidence that Osoto had killed Atori in the real world and was now targeting him for some reason in the hotel. Atori said he knew Osoto’s parents in reality, but he had never met the son. Neko warned Atori to be careful of Osoto. She then went to find the Manager and ask clarifying questions about Hell. It sounded like she wanted to find a way to send Osoto there.

The Manager had known about the connection between Atori, Osoto, and Neko for a long time. He told Neko not to send Osoto to Hell no matter how unfair it was that he murdered Atori. Apparently, even though the Manager knew how to send someone to Hell, it was against the rules of this world for him to do so. Neko was frustrated by the Manager and stormed away, determined to do something about Osoto.

As Neko wondered what to do, she was approached by Kiriko. The weird little monkey had overheard Neko’s conversation with the Manager. He told Neko that he knew of a way to deal with Osoto. The episode ends there.

Although this episode was eventful, it felt like it was missing something the whole time. There’s a sense of urgency and tension that the narrative lacks. If I didn’t happen to care so much about Neko as a character, I probably wouldn’t have been remotely excited by the events in this episode. A lot of it seemed very predictable, too. At any rate, this may not be the best anime, but it’s still something I’m invested in right now.
~Thanks for reading~
