Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc Episode 10
Episode Rating: 7/10
This episode wasn’t as good as some of the others. The show is trying desperately to stretch 8-10 episodes’ worth of content over 13 episodes. It shows in this installment in particular, as a sizeable portion of the episode is literally the recap. I also don’t know what the real point was of Diedrich being there. Furthermore, it was a little unbelievable that the Germans would have an armored mobile tank in the 1890s when they weren’t invented until the first World War.

Though the presence of the tank was historically inaccurate, it’s not totally absurd. Black Butler happens in an alternate history where demons and death gods are real, so it’s not that strange to shift the timeline of human inventions by two or three decades. That’s just my take. Either way, I enjoyed the action in this episode as Sebastian and Ciel fought the tank. In the end, Sebastian destroyed it, killing Anna, Hilde and the others inside it. The explosion was intense.

While Sebastian and Ciel were handling the tank, the others (Diedrich, Baldroy and Snake) went to meet up with Finny’s group. They had the briefcase with them that contained the “sulin gas.” The last scene in the episode introduced Ludger and Sascha, two Shinigami who were there harvesting the souls of Anna and the other soldiers. Sascha resembles a young boy about Ciel’s age. He seems to have a very curious personality. The episode ends there.

Kowloon Generic Romance Episode 10
Episode Rating: 8/10
Yulong asked Xiaohei to kill the Generic Terra, but Xiaohei refused. Yulong then revealed that he knew Xiaohei’s secret. The boy and girl Xiaohei’s are the same. Somehow, three years ago, Xiaohei looked like a girl. I’m not sure if this character is a trans girl who was forced to de-transition. Perhaps they are gender-fluid but stuck with a male body now that they are fully grown. I have no idea yet. Clearly, we have a lot to learn about Xiaohei.

Since Yulong knew about Xiaohei, he used it to his advantage and tried to pressure Xiaohei into doing what he wanted. According to Yulong, Generic Terra had the power to return Xiaohei to their female form. If Xiaohei wants to return to normal, they would have to kill Reiko. This still wasn’t enough to convince the good-hearted character. They care very much about Yoamay and swore never to do anything that would make her sad.

This stuff with Xiaohei also taught us that there are exceptions to the rule that the original person and generic person cannot coexist. For some unknown reason, the two Xiaohei’s can both exist in Kowloon. But that’s enough about Xiaohei. We also have to talk about Reiko, who discovered that she could see Kujirai B’s memories through her old glasses. Yoamay helped her investigate, and at the end of the episode, Yaomay also recovered her missing memories.

In this episode, Reiko also began taking down the talismans all over town and studying them. Most were blank on the back, but some had the error code “403 Forbidden” and others had the code “202 accepted.” As for Reiko’s relationship, it isn’t going well. She broke up with Kudo and said they should go back to being just co-workers. It’s because Reiko is terribly afraid of hurting Kudo. That’s all for now.

Lazarus Episode 10
Episode Rating: 8/10
Doug analyzed the pill that Christine found. It was a medicine mostly for treating patients with artificial hearts. Skinner may have had heart surgery in the last three years. Hersche brought up the fact that some rich hospitals treat patients with absolute confidentiality in exchange for exorbitant fees. Leland then asked Doug and Axel to go with him to his family home. Apparently, Leland was the heir of the noble Astor Family, who might know Skinner’s doctor.

Leland argued with his temperamental sister, Isabella. She even struck him because of family drama. But finally, in exchange for cooperating with Isabella, Leland was given the information for a doctor who might have treated Skinner. I didn’t catch the doctor’s name, but she was a kind, older black lady. She had known Leland and his family for many years. Since the world was ending, she revealed that Skinner did indeed get heart surgery from her.

Although she lost track of Skinner, the doctor provided a clue about where Skinner’s artificial heart was being monitored. It was somewhere in Pakistan. Thinking that Popcorn Wizard might be there, Eleina set off for Pakistan with Doug. Meanwhile, Axel and Hersche were in a car, being approached by Soryu the assassin. Hersche told Axel about how an experimental form of Hapna was used on him and others in a prison in the USA. Everyone but Axel died from the drug.

Importantly, Hersche and Abel found some footage of Skinner. He was surrounded by soldiers at an airport while carrying a chemical – a hapna prototype – in a briefcase. When the soldiers opened fire, gas leaked out of the briefcase. It was potent enough to kill. It looked like Skinner tried to escape in the smokescreen, but he may have been apprehended by the soldiers, which were from a military group called Delta Force. There’s probably more to mention, but that’s all for my notes today.

your Forma Episode 10
Episode Rating: 8/10
I enjoyed this episode more than I was expecting. I thought it would be too boring after that thriller/tragedy episode last week. But it turned out this episode had a lot of good and/or interesting moments. Early on, we met Elena Alexandria Chernov, the mother of Darya, Sozon, and one other brother. She absolutely hates Harold, blaming him for not saving Sozon. Elena is an extremely hateful and unstable old lady.

Chief Totoki put Fokine in charge of the E case. Echika and Harold would work under him. Bigga also joined the team as an official police assistant. At the end of their first day working together, Bigga gave presents to Echika and Harold. The present for Echika was a pack of jelly snacks and the present for Harold was a new scarf. Though he seemed very happy to receive the gift, Harold didn’t start wearing the new scarf. This led Bigga to feeling regretful and awkward.

Later, Harold was called by Inspector Nobolov, who worked with Sozon in the past. Something strange had happened. A voice that sounded exactly like Sozon had called the police twice. He warned that “another Nightmare” would surface. Shortly after, a victim was found. It was an Amicus killed in the usual style of the Nightmare of St. Petersburg. Harold, however, believed the murder was done by a copycat. Echika urged Harold to stay out of that case, and Harold agreed.

In the last scene, Harold found an important clue while searching for Tosti on the E case. There was a database of digital copies of deceased people. Someone ordered a digital copy of Sozon. It was Elena, who wanted a replacement for her son. However, Elena didn’t pick up the copy. According to the database technician, it was someone named Alexei Savich Abaev. To be continued.
