Greetings! There were at least ten interesting-looking anime that I wanted to watch for the upcoming season, but that’s too many for me to commit to writing about. So, I have chosen seven summer series to respond to starting in July. Here they are!
City The Animation
I have to at least check this series out because it’s by the same creator as Nichijou, which is my second-favorite comedy anime ever (after Arakawa Under the Bridge). With any luck it will be a brilliant and hilarious production like its predecessor.
Dr. Stone: Science Future Part 2
I’m both excited about this and dreading it since it’s supposed to be the second to last season. I really don’t want Dr. Stone to come to an end. On the other hand, I also wouldn’t want the story to drag on past its prime. Anyway, I have high hopes for this penultimate season.
Kaiju No. 8 Season 2
I thoroughly enjoyed the first season, so I’m excited for the continuation. While I do hope the stakes are raised over time, I hope that this anime doesn’t get too dark down the line. I love the series for its emotional heart and abundant humor. It doesn’t need to be super grim like Attack on Titan in order to be enjoyable.
New Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt
This is a strange choice by own admission, since there are so many other series this season that sound more interesting. I did really enjoy the original Panty and Stocking, but that was a long time ago. I’m not even sure how much I would like it now. Nevertheless, I’m interested to see how studio Trigger will adapt this series. Thus, I’m coming along for the wacky and dirty ride of Panty and Stocking’s reboot.
Ruri Rocks
This main character is very cute, with a fiery enthusiasm for geology. The animation style also looks really pretty. I think this will be inpsiring to watch.
Sakamoto Days Part 2
I watched part 1 and even though I wasn’t super impressed, I’m still going to finish it.
The Summer Hikaru Died
I’m watching this one because I like exciting stories with interesting monsters in them. As a bonus, I’ve heard the main relationship has some BL subtext and whatnot.
