Anime I *Might* Watch in Fall 2024

Welcome to Anime Rants! Summer is over and it’s time to get ready for the Fall 2024 anime season. As usual, I haven’t decided for sure that these shows will be the ones I watch. But these are the main ones that caught my interest. There are nine shows plus two others continuing from Summer. Regardless of my final choices, I will definitely be writing some episode reviews in the coming season.

This post is also part of an “experiment.” I was pleasantly surprised to be tagged by Bloop over at Scribble Anime. After listing his choices for Fall 2024, this lovely blogger decided to tag several other bloggers involved with anime. He asked us to write our posts about what we want to watch in the upcoming season. Then we’re supposed to tag other bloggers (if desired) who might want to join in. I think it’s a fun idea, so I decided to tag the four people below.

Merlin (Merlin’s Musings)

Momomanamu (Anime Hanabi)

Raven (Raven の Nest)

Scott (Mechanical Anime Reviews)

Note: if you don’t want to write a blog post, no pressure. You can leave a comment instead or just ignore. You can also tag other bloggers to keep the experiment going. It’s way for people to interact. 🙂

Hopefully, I won’t bother any of you with this experiment. I know that most of you were probably going to write your own posts about this regardless, but so was I, and I don’t mind. Anyway, without further ado, here are the shows that interest me for Fall 2024.

1) Uzumaki: Spiral into Horror

Begins: Sep 28th

Platform: Adult Swim and MAX

I have no idea what this will be like, but it’s supernatural/pyschological horror made for the seinen age group, so I will probably enjoy it. MyAnimeList categorized it as “Avant Garde,” and I think that’s because of the art-style. The animation studio for Uzumaki is Production I.G., and I usually love their animation and high production quality.

2) I’ll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History
(Rekishi ni Nokoru Akujo ni Naru zo)

Begins: Oct 1st

Platform: Crunchyroll

To be honest, the premise doesn’t sound especially good, but I’m willing to try it out because I am curious about almost any isekai where the main character is actually a girl. The few I’ve seen were highly enjoyable, including Ascendence of a Bookworm and So I’m a Spider, So What?

3) Re: Zero (Starting Life In Another World) Season 3

Begins: October 2nd

Platform: Crunchyroll

Although I initially despised Re: Zero‘s first season, later watches improved my opinion somewhat. Season 2 then got me highly interested in a way that the first never did. So, naturally, I’m excited as hell for season 3. According to MyAnimeList.net, this season will only be eight episodes.

4) Orb: On the Movements of the Earth
(Chi.: Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite)

Begins: Oct 5th

Platform: Unconfirmed

This is a historical anime about a Polish university student (named Rafal) in the 1400s. In that setting, everything was ruled by the Christian Church, and any new discoveries could be labeled as heretical. I expect Rafal is studying astronomy and will realize something about the Earth. I’m interested because 1) I enjoy learning about early scientific discoveries; 2) I am against religion and want to see a “heretic” win; 3) I love Madhouse, the studio that’s producing this anime; and 4) I love Maaya Sakamoto, who is playing Rafal.

5) Blue Exorcist: Beyond the Snow Saga
(Ao no Exorcist: Yuki no Hate-hen)

Begins: Oct 5th

Platform: Crunchyroll

I’ve been a fan of Blue Exorcist since the early days of the anime. I still haven’t read the manga, since in general I don’t enjoy that medium. Thus, I’m thrilled that the story is continuing in anime form. Beyond the Snow Saga is the rough equivalent of season 4 of the anime.

6) Natsume’s Book of Friends Season 7
(Natsume Yuujinchou Shichi)

Begins: Oct 7th

Platform: Crunchyroll

I discovered Natsume’s Book of Friends in 2014 and immediately fell in love with the calming atmosphere and the endearing main character. This series also teaches viewers about different Yokai (Japanese mythological creatures). I’m always down to see more Natsume.

7) The Do-Over Damsel Conquers The Dragon Emperor
(Yarinaoshi Reijou wa Ryuutei Heika wo Kouryakuchuu)

Begins: Oct 9th

Platform: Crunchyroll

This is just like Villainess Who Goes Down in History in that I don’t have high expectations for it and I might end up not watching it at all. However, I’m at least theoretically interested because I like fantasy series with female main characters. I also like J.C. Staff, the studio making this anime.

8) Demon Lord 2099

Begins: Oct 12th

Platform: Crunchyroll

This show is not currently a high priority for me, but it sounds potentially interesting because of the idea of combining magic and technology in a modern fantasy world. I may or may not watch.

9) Beastars Final Season

Begins: Dec 2024 (exact date unknown)

Platform: Netflix

As a huge fan of Beastars, I will of course be covering this series in episode review format as soon as it drops online. I highly recommend this unusual but incredibly entertaining series.

10) Tower of God Season 2

(Continuing from Summer 2024)

Resumes: September 22nd

Platform: Crunchyroll

This season isn’t getting very good ratings compared to the first, and unfortunately, I can see why. The pacing isn’t great, the characters are underdeveloped, and the fight scenes are often subpar. I’m still going to watch this because I like a few of the characters. Also, the OST is great since it was composed by Kevin Penkin.

11) Delico’s Nursery

(Continuing from Summer 2024)

Resumes: Oct 16th

Platform: Crunchyroll

There have only been six episodes so far. The series will pick up again with the seventh episode soon. Though it’s nothing stunning, Delico’s Nursery has proved enjoyable to me so far. The art is striking and the light humor brings a smile to my face. I hope there will be more vampire lore, too.

  1. Nice, I think we have a teeny tiny overlap in our lineups, which just shows how varied the overall season is. I really need to find time to watch season two of Re:Zero. There’s a lot more sequels than there used to be.

  2. Nice post mononoke! :D. Uzumaki is done by Junji Ito, never read any of his works, his art style is that well recognised, can’t wait to read your thoughts on it, might make a good spooky viewing season. Unfortunately, I fell out of re:zero and never got back on the saddle, glad you are enjoying it now. Same with Natsume. I’ll keep an eye out on your thoughts on orb, it sounds interesting, and it is done by madhouse.

  3. just to quickly clear something mononoke. The blog you tag, they are free to leave a comment on your post, if they don’t want to write up a blog post of their own. If they do write up a post, then they are free to tag other bloggers should they wish. It’s a way for peeps to find and interact with each other. i’ll re-edit this on my post as well.
