10 Female Seiyuu You Should Learn (Post #2)

10. Miki Itou

Ms. Itou has a deep but very womanly voice and is best known for playing anime moms, mature women, or female villains. She played Aun Eva in Umineko, Sachiko in Maria ga Miteru, Taiga Fujimura from the Fate series, Artificial Human 18-Gou from Dragon Ball, supporting roles in Sailor Moon and Gundam series, Mrs. Fujiwara from Natsume Yuunjinchou, and numerous other anime mothers. (You’d be surprised how many moms she’s played.) My favorite role of this seiyuu is Miyo Takano in Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (When They Cry).

9. Ai Nonaka

As far as roles I know, Ai Nonaka was Kafuka Fuura in Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Caster in Fate/Extra Last Encore, Fuuko in Clannad, Chibita in Osomatsu-san, Pirako in Gintama, and Yukari (umbrella-girl) from Another. She’s played many other characters I don’t know from anime I’ve never seen, such as Kanada from Asura Cryin, Fujidera in The World God Only Knows, Amime Kirin in Kemono Friends, Sakiko Watanabe in Little Busters, Konoka in Mahou Sensei Negima, and Ichijou in Pani Poni Dash. My favorite character ever voiced by Ai-chan is Kyouko from Madoka Magica.

8. Saori Hayami

The lovely Saori-san with her musical voice played Viktoriya in Youjo Senki, Yukino in OreGaIru, Emi from Your Lie in April, Shinoa Hiiragi in Owari no Seraph, Fubuki from One Punch Man, Miyuki Shiba in Irregular at Magic High, Chiriko from Ano Hana, Uzumaki Himawari in Boruto, Kokoro from Darling in the Franxx, Aila in Gundam Build Fighters, and Yumeko from Kakegurui, to name a few! My favorite role by her is Shirayuki from Snow White with Red Hair.

7. Minami Takayama

First and foremost, Ms. Takayama is the unforgettable original Japanese voice of Edogawa Conan of Detective Conan, and continues even this year to voice him. The show is a classic! Takayama’s other roles include Kiki from Kiki’s Delivery Service, Thor from Jyu Oh Sei, Dilandau of Escaflowne, young Griffith in Berserk 1997, Ascot from Captain Rayearth, Hao in Shaman King, Mukuro in Yuu Yuu Hakusho, Kamukura Izuru in Danganronpa, and many more! My favorite character Ms. Takayama played is Sachiko Fujinuma from Erased or Boku dake ga Inai Machi.

6. Mariya Ise

Miss Ise excels at voicing young boy characters, but her characters include more than that! A handful of them are Killua from Hunter x Hunter (2011), Ray in Yakusoku no Neverland, Mika Harima of Durarara, Catherine Ward in Satsuriku no Tenshi, Urara Kasugano from Precure, Nemuru from Ookamikakushi, Guila in Nanatsu no Taizai, Levy of Fairy Tail, Midari Ikishima in Kakegurui, Rayneshia from Log Horizon, Ami in Little Busters, and various others! My favorite character played by Mariya Ise is Regu from Made in Abyss!

5. Yuu Kobayashi

I personally love the slightly hoarse sound of Yuu Kobayashi’s voice, but it grates on the nerves for some people. YuuKo played Sarutobi in Gintama, Sasha in Shinegki no Kyojin, Kaere Kimura in Zetsubou Sensei, Serinuma in Kiss Him Not Me, Katsuragi from Senran Kagura, Sigui in Queen’s Blade, Nice Holystone in Baccano, Satoshi Houjou in Higurashi, Setstuna from Mahou Sensei Negima, and more! Ruka Urushibara from Steins;Gate is my my favorite Yuu Kobayashi character.

4. Romi Park

This famous voice actress played Edward in FMA and FMA Brotherhood, Zoe Hange/ Hanji from Attack on Titan, Nana Osaki of Nana, Ragyo from Kill la Kill, Teresa in Claymore, Ganta in Deadman Wonderland, Hyuuga from Gakuen Alice, Switzerland in Hetalia, Popo from Kaiba, Angelina Durless in Black Butler, Myouri Unzen from Medaka Box, Temari in Naruto, Naoto of Persona 4, “Turtle” from Rainbow, Tao in Shaman King, and Syrup from the Precure series. One of my favorite Romi roles is Pakunoda from Hunter x Hunter (2011).

3. Mamiko Noto

Not everybody loves this VA as much as I do, I know. But based on the sheer number of roles she’s had, there’s probably at least one where you liked her. MamiNoto played Nina in Monster, Benten in Eccentric Family, Sheele in Akame ga Kill, Kotomi from Clannad, Mavis Vermillion in Fairy Tail, Imkarmat in Golden Kamuy, Kalluto Zoldyck from Hunter x Hunter, Asagami Fujino of Kara no Kyoukai, Sawako in Kimi ni Todoke, Shimako Toudo in MariaMite, Akira in NaruTaru, Hectate in Shakugan no Shana, Alsa Himegama from Magical Index/ Railgun, and those are just a few! I think some of Mamiko’s best performances were those as Enma Ai from Hell Girl/ Jigoku Shoujo.

2. Chiwa Saito

Her voice sounds normal enough, but what makes her special is the amount of emotion she can put into her lines, both screaming and when speaking quietly. Chiwa-chan voiced Homura Akemi from Madoka Magica, Konoha Inoue of Bungaku Shoujo, Stella in Arakawa Under the Bridge, Aika from the Aria franchise, Aoi Asahina in Danganronpa, Chloe von Einsbern of Fate/Kaleid, Tatenashi Sarashiki from Infinite Stratos 2, Natsumi Hinata in Sergeant Frog, Nureha of Log Horizon, Halevy from Gundam series, Hitagi of the Monogatari series, Rebecca in PaniPoni Dash, and so many others you wouldn’t believe! My favorite role of Chiwa Saito is Homura, but since I’ve already used a Madoka Magica character, then second best is Yona from Yona of the Dawn.

1. Kana Ueda

A famous and talented seiyuu, Kana Ueda performed as Yumi from Maria-sama ga Miteru, Mikan Sakura from Gakuen Alice, Sakuya Aizawa from Hayate the Combat Butler, Hazumu in Kashimashi Girl meets Girl, Hayate Yagami from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, Anastasia from Re: Zero, Fumika from Shigofumi, Haruko Maeda from Usagi Drop, Sayori Wakabe from Vampire Knight, Kinon from Gurren Lagann, and Neon Nostrade from Hunter x Hunter. My favorite character played by Kana-chan is Rin Tohsaka from the Fate series.

-Honorable Mentions-

Yuuko Gotou: Voice of Mikuru Asahina in Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

Shiori Mikami: Voice of Krista/ Historia from Shingeki no Kyojin.

Inori Minase: Voice of Rem from Re:Zero /Starting Life in Another World.

Aya Endou: voice of adult Saki Watanabe and Narrator of Shinsekai Yori (From the New World).

  1. I didn’t know about Minami Takayama, so thanks for drawing attention to a deserving voice! Also, I wasn’t aware that Mamiko Noto voiced my favourite character in Kara no Kyoukai.

I’m also a fan of Mai Nakahara, Sayaka Ohara, Aoi Yuuki, and Yui Horie!

    1. Glad I brought Ms. Takayama to your attention, then! I also love the four you mentioned. Aoi Yuuki is one of my top 3 favorite female seiyuu, and I wrote a bit about her roles in my other seiyuu post (#1). If I do a third post like this, Nakahara, Horie, and Ohara will definitely be included! So will Haruka Tomatsu and a couple of others.
