Answering Pinkie’s Questions

1.If you could live in any other country in the world where would you live?

Probably Denmark or New Zealand. My friend from Denmark told me about her country and it made me want to go there. Apparently it’s a very progressive place and has a climate that I would enjoy. Then again, I’ve wanted to visit New Zealand for forever, to see the beautiful nature. I’ve heard New Zealand is also quite progressive.

2. Do you believe in ghosts?

Nope. I’m a philosophical naturalist, which means I lack belief in anything supernatural. But ghosts and such are lots of fun in fiction!

3. If you’d reincarnate as an animal of your choice what animal would you be?

I think I would be a river otter because they are beautiful, playful, smart, and semi-social. I would have endless energy and swim around in the river with ease and grace all day long.

4. If you could learn any skill instantly what would it be?

Not sure exactly, but some kind of IT skill. I suck with technology and it’s embarrassing.

Cute embarrassed Yuki (Fruits Basket)

5. Do you ever use Weeaboo speech?

Hai, suru. Yes, I do. With my friends, anyway. Nearly all my interactions with friends are online or on the phone, and I don’t tend to use Weeabo Speak as much verbally. In texts and chatrooms, however, I love adding suffixes like -chan, and using senpai and kouhai. I throw in some other words too.

6. Is there anything you are passionate about, that isn’t a subject on your blog?!

Other than anime, writing, and psychology, the other two main interests of mine are animals and neuroscience. I studied wildlife science in school and for a long time I wanted to be a researcher and also help with conservation and preservation efforts. My interest dropped a lot with onset of major depression, but someday I may still work in a park or something. As for neuroscience, all I can do for the present is learn as much as I can from books on the subject, even though there may be parts that are difficult to understand or remember. I hope to get a Master’s degree in Neuroscience when my life is more stable.

7. Are there any bloggers you take inspiration from?

All of you? I love learning, and I try to pick things up as I go. So it’s thanks to all the bloggers I follow (and some I don’t) that my blog is what it is. I started out knowing absolutely nothing about blogs, after all. I do remember that in the early days of Anime Rants there were a few bloggers who were especially inspiring and helpful in the learning process, such as Scott, Irina, Crow, and Merlin.

8. Name an experience that would be on your bucket list.

Having a published book. The physical kind. With depression and other mood and personality disorders, I find it difficult to hope for things in the future, or follow through with big plans for accomplishments. There’s not really much I want to do because I can’t imagine being able to do it. But getting one of my stories published has been a dream since I was eleven. I guess I also want to travel outside the country. So at least there’s a few things I still want to do.

9. If you were a flavour of Ice-cream what flavour would you be?

Let’s go with coffee. flavor I like coffee icecream and frozen coffee drinks on occasion.

10. What is the next thing you have in your agenda/planned after writing this post?

I’ll start on another blog post, probably. That or do some laundry. I don’t tend to plan that much. I’m more of a play-it-by-ear kind of person. Pretty lazy too.

My Ten Questions

My questions are all over the place. I tried to put the harder ones first and the more fun and silly ones later. I had trouble thinking of good questions, but I hope these will do.

1. What is an anime that significantly effected you on a mental level? For example, something that made you question or realize things about yourself, goals, or beliefs.

2. Are you part of a religion and if so what is it?

3. What does the word spiritual mean to you?

4. Are you interested in psychology– and why or why not?

5. What’s the last thing you remember that made you laugh?

6. What’s the last thing you remember that surprised or startled you?

7. Do you like to do crafting and if so what kind of things?

8. Pets! Do you have any and what are they?

Answers To My Own Questions

1. What is an anime that significantly effected you on a mental level? For example, something that made you question or realize things about yourself, goals, or beliefs.

There are several. The one I picked for today is Madoka Magica. This anime made me realize some things, think about other things for the first time, and see myself in the characters. I don’t want to write an essay here so let’s just pick one area that is important to me: Sayaka Miki. She’s the blue-haired magical girl whose mental state continues to go downhill as the truths of the world and the magical system are unraveled. Sayaka started with unreasonable, skewed, and idealistic expectations for herself and others. I see a lot of myself in this character. I also was ridiculously naive, and reacted very badly to my exposure to the real world.

2. Are you part of a religion and if so what is it?

I am not. I lack belief in gods and the supernatural. In addition, I find the traditions, rules, and social expectations of most religions to be smothering. So there’s nothing for me in religion.

3. What does the word spiritual mean to you?

Everyone I ask has a slightly different idea of the meaning of this, though some can’t clearly define it. The dictionary definition is “relating to or affecting the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things.” So I guess that’s what spiritual means. Naturally, I don’t believe in the existence of spirit or soul. But I do believe people have powerful personal experiences that are very dear to them, and if they want to chalk it up to the supernatural, I’m not stopping them from believing what they want.

4. Are you interested in psychology– and why or why not?

Yes. Psychology is a wide field with a plethora of specific areas of study. I loved learning basic psychology in college. In my own “studies,” I look at some abnormal psychology, in part to better understand myself. I am also interested in the field of evolutionary psychology, although I do think one needs to be a little more skeptical about this branch. Why do I love psychology? Mostly because it makes me think and gives me new information and ideas to explore and learn. Like I mentioned, I also think it helps me understand myself. It helps with better understanding people in general, in my opinion.

Psychology!

5. What’s the last thing you remember that made you laugh?

My memory is pretty bad. I don’t remember what was the most recent occasion. But I do know that I was chuckling and laughing at the ASDF Movies a few days ago. They never get old.

6. What’s the last thing you remember that surprised or startled you?

My cat suddenly jumped up on my chair even though I was sitting in it and there’s no room. He tried to cling to the back of the chair but one of his paws also went to my back for support. … My cat has big claws. Ouch. It definitely startled me. XD

7. Do you like to do crafting and if so what kind of things?

My abilities with hands-on activities are dismal. I sometimes enjoy doing some crafts, but they’re never good haha. The things I enjoy are making clay animal figures, putting things together in cheap jewelry kits, and occasionally working on my godawful stitching.

8. Pets! Do you have any and what are they?

As I mentioned, I have a cat. He’s an old boy, about 15, and is starting to have kidney issues. I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be able to be with him, but I’ll treasure his company for whatever time he has left. Besides the cat, I have two Eastern Painted Turtles. They are about 7 years old and still quite small. As long as I care for them well, they’ll live to about 30.

9. Do you have a favorite number and if so what is it?

I know it’s a pointless question but it seemed slightly fun. I’m quite partial to the number 7.

10. Do you like tomatoes and/or tomato products?

Yes. Lately, I’ve been on a tomato-eating spree. If you can find one that’s not too squishy and not under-ripe, they taste amazing. Tomatoes are the only fruit that makes me salivate in anticipation, lol. Cherry and grape tomatoes are wonderful as well. Most tomato products (sauce, salsa, soup, and ketchup) taste also great to me. This question seemed random and silly enough to be funny, so that’s why I included it.

Alright, I think that completes the Let’s Blog Award! Thanks so much for reading. Till next time!

  1. For a time I had three super healthy and happy cherry tomatoes growing on my front porch. I could step outside, pick a nice ripe tomatoe and eat it right there. OMG. Nothing compares. Give the ol’ kitty a snuggle for me. Cats are the best 😀
