Welcome to Anime Rants. I know this post is 3 weeks late. I fell behind on blogging due to my big trip to California. I’ll be posting the entries for weeks 8, 9, and 10 in rapid succession as soon as I can crank them out.
Bungou Stray Dogs 4th Season: Episode 8
So much happened in this episode that recapping it in full would take me multiple paragraphs. The gist of it is that the Detective Agency is safe for the moment, but they’ll still be in big trouble as soon as they’re found. Meanwhile, Dazai has been sent to the highest security prison in the world, where he talks with fellow inmate Fyodor. Atsushi is trying to make a deal with Francis to help them find Oguri, which could help prove the Detective Agency’s innocence. Also, Kunikida might be dead after sacrificing himself to fight one of the Bloodhounds. I was very involved in this episode and I like the fast-moving plot as well as the action and intrigue. I’m excited for more.

Koori Zokusei Danshi to Cool na Douryou Joshi
(Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague): Episode 8
The four coworkers went on a ski trip together as a Christmas celebration. Although there were plenty of cute moments, I’m getting slightly bored of this slow-paced and repetitive anime. However, something sort of exciting did happen in this episode: we saw the first appearance of Yukimin, Himuro’s little sister. She’s cute. I know it was played for jokes, but it’s interesting to me that she likes Fuyutsuki so much. Is she supposed to be bisexual? Because that would be cool. Anyway, that’s about it for this episode.

Mononogatari: Malevolent Spirits: Episode 7
This episode was one of the worst in terms of visuals and badly drawn people. However, plot and character -wise, it was a least somewhat interesting. Hyoma goes to visit a family sect that oversees the region and defeats the city’s tsukumogami. The leader, an old man, said he wants Botan dead because she’s like a ticking time bomb with her unknown powers. The old man tries to force Hyoma into agreeing, but the young man puts up a fight. The fight is still going at the end of the episode. I hope he doesn’t overdo it and get too angry and crazy in battle. That’s about it for my thoughts.

Nokemono-tachi no Yoru (Tale of Outcasts): Episode 7
It was kind of a chaotic episode, but it had some good tension and some nice fight scenes. In this installment, we were introduced to what may be the main villains for the next portion of the show. I don’t quite have their names down yet. It’s a war hero (Luther?) who contracted with a powerful bull-like demon, and both are itching to start a new war in England. They kidnapped Snow and are torturing him for information about Wisteria and Marbas.
Another villainous character is a dragon demon working with the war-hungry bull demon. This sly demon (I think his name is Sitri) taunts Wisteria with the information that her brother is being held captive. Wisteria resists the words of the demon and tells Marbas that they need to go to London and rescue Snow. A few other things happened, like the Japanese knight getting severely injured and possibly killed. Considering this show’s history, I doubt they killed a major character so unceremoniously. He’ll be back. I look forward to more Outcast Tales next time!

TenTen Kakumei (Magical Revolution): Episode 8
I absolutely loved this episode! Things took a dark but not wholly unexpected turn. Prince Algard infiltrated Anis’ villa, wounded Illya, and ripped the magicite out of Lainnie’s chest. Lainnie is now in critical condition as Euphie tries to heal her with magic. Meanwhile, Anis faces off with her nefarious brother. His motivations for doing all this are a bit scattered, but it comes down to his insecurities about becoming king and wanting to be powerful. Algard has chosen a dark path of taking advantage of others. I’m not sure where the story will go from here, but I’m excited!

Vinland Saga Season 2: Episode 7
As Thorfinn learns more about farming and Einar crushes on the slave girl Arnheid, Kentil’s oldest son comes home for a visit. Unlike the weak-willed younger son, the older one is a vicious warrior who likes violence. Kentil is a gentle man, and the rumors about him being strong in battle years ago were all lies spread by him to keep up appearances. In fact, Kentil is so gentle that he doesn’t want to punish the two children who stole from his farm. When pressured by his oldest son, however, Kentil take responsibility and gives the children a beating with a stick. Things were savage in those days.
The end of the episode reveals that Kentil is sleeping with Arnheid, who knows of his “weakness” and seems to love him for it. That’s bad news for poor Einar, who thinks he has a shot with the girl. All in all, it was a fairly interesting episode. However, I’m sure I’m not the only one who wants to see some action by this point in the series. I hope we have another Canute episode soon.

Thank you for reading~
