Re: Zero Season 4

Episode 4 (AKA 70): A White Sky Asterism

We officially met Shaula, the mostly naked girl with the scorpion tail hair. The one voicing her is Fairouz Ai, a popular voice-actress that I have just recently come to recognize and love. Rather than actually being the Sage herself, Shaula told the group that the real Sage was her master, a wise man named Flugel. He died 400 years ago and told Shaula to guard the tower until his return. Shaula thought that Subaru was her reborn master due to the Witch’s miasma clinging to him. Apparently, Flugel was constantly cloaked in that miasma. Also, yes – Shaula is apparently not a human, having lived for over 400 years.

I felt moderately annoyed by Shaula because she’s so blatantly sexualized and because she’s yet another case of a young woman in Re: Zero written by an ignorant man. However, I also liked Shaula somewhat because she was voiced by Fairouz Ai and because she’s funny. Rather than correct her, Subaru kept up the lie that he was Shaula’s master in a different body. Shaula was extremely loyal and loving toward her master. On the downside, this meant she was constantly all over Subaru, even making Emilia jealous at one point. On the upside, Shaula promised to protect Subaru and his companions, and we know she’s super powerful. After all, Shaula was the one who fired those deadly light needles capable of one-hit-killing Beatrice.

Shaula wasn’t able to help the group with their mission, but she agreed to lead them to the grand, magical library where they would surely find anything they wanted to know. To access the library, there was a magical test. The test question was to name a certain hero who was defeated by Shaula. The mostly naked young lady didn’t know the answer, but Subaru guessed it. He realized that it was a reference to constellations and Greek mythology, wherein Orion was the hero slain by Shaula. Thanks to Subaru’s knowledge, the group could access the library. I suspect that Flugel was a man from our world. That’s all for the fourth episode.

Dr. Stone: Science Future Part 3

Episode 5: The Truth About the Rocket

Construction continued on the computer and in this episode, a calculator was completed. There was some science about storing information in magnets, but I didn’t really get most of it, to be honest. Gen had the idea to run a “Math Olympics” competition. The winner would get a bunch of Ryusui’s new currency. The competitors were Senku, Chrome, Sai, and of surprisingly, Magma. The latter was the one who used the calculator, while the others tried with their own brains. Thanks to the calculator, Magma got the first answer and presumably won the contest. It was very cool to see how machines made from scratch quickly pass the computing ability of humans.

Senku’s group went to Australia to collect a mineral needed to make aluminum, a key ingredient in the body of the rocket. Yo (the former police officer) and a small crew brought corn to Senku’s group from the USA, replenishing their food supplies. Francois cooked corn dishes for everyone. Later in the episode, Ukyo brought a petrification device that was working. Senku explained that the devices in which Joel installed batteries were too old to work anymore. However, the newer petrification device worked with Kaseki’s diamond battery. Senku then told the grim truth about the rocket plan: that it would be a one-way trip. He even called the trip to the moon “a Kamikaze run.”

There wasn’t time to build a rocket capable of returning to Earth. After all, Why-Man could exterminate them at any time. Also, once they were on the moon, they would need to fight Why-Man using the Medusa. In other words, the crew would petrify themselves and wait for eventual rescue – which wasn’t guaranteed. Three people would walk on the moon: a scientist, a fighter, and a pilot. That most likely means it will be Senku, Tsukasa, and Ryusui. Though this was the official plan, Chrome had the idea to build a second rocket in secret: one capable of bringing back the three crew members. He told Suika about it and together they were determined to make a spacecraft. To be continued.

Go For It! Nakamura!!

Episode 5: Vexing! Are They An Item?!

This episode was about Nakamura being jealous over two misunderstandings. First, Hirose seemed to be in a romantic relationship with his classmate Takeuchi. However, Nakamura soon discovered that Takeuchi was only flirting with Hirose to get the attention of a girl named Hamaoka who was a Fujoshi. In the end, Takeuchi asked Hamaoka out, and she said she’d date him if he flirted with boys often. Thus, it turned out that Hirose was still single. In the next misunderstanding, Nakamura grew concerned that Hirose was in love with their handsome and charming homeroom teacher, Otogiri-sensei. Hirose did seem to admire Otogiri after the teacher saved him from getting his hair shaven off by angry guidance counselors. However, I doubt he thinks of his teacher in a romantic way.

At one point, Nakamura consumed way too much protein powder in an attempt to get buff fast and impress Hirose. As a result, he was sick at school and even threw up in front of Hirose. Instead of being grossed out, Hirose patted Nakamura gently on the back while he puked, bringing him comfort. While resting in the nurse’s office, Nakamura overheard a conversation between Otogiri-sensei and Hirose. He again wrongly assumed that they were intimate. The episode ends with Nakamura realizing that there was an upcoming extracurricular field trip to Yokohama. He had a plan for that trip to turn things around with Hirose. This episode was very entertaining as usual but also slightly icky. I don’t like thinking that there could actually be a romantic subplot with Otogiri because I don’t want him to be a creep. I am so sick of creepy teachers in anime.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4

Episode 5: The First Step

This episode was fairly entertaining and I actually didn’t get bored. Rimuru, Benimaru, Souhei, and Shuna went to Engrassia to appear before the Council of the West. The day before the important meeting, they had some fun shopping for clothes. It was neat seeing their casual outfits. Before the meeting, Hinata warned Rimuru not to lose his temper. Rimuru wasn’t worried. When dealing with annoying noblemen at the council meeting, he quickly grew impatient, but maintained his outer cool. Once the meeting was underway, negotiations began about accepting Tempest into the Council. Most of the conditions were agreeable, but Rimuru had some suggestions and corrections which he wrote and presented to the Chairman.

Lester, the Chairman, needed time to review the papers. After three hours, he returned and gave the paper reply to Rimuru. Whatever was in those papers must have been insulting, because Rimuru suddenly lost his cool. He kicked the wooden stand in front of him, sending it flying several yards before landing with a crash. Demon Lord aura surrounded him as Rimuru angrily demanded to know if the Council was making light of him. This is where the episode leaves off. It seems like Maribel planned for this in advance and made the nobles put something nasty in their negotiation papers. So far, things are going exactly the way she intended. I look forward to seeing how Rimuru turns this around.
