Good day, and welcome to Anime Rants’ review of Bem episode 4! It’s about fucking time it came out after it was delayed for 3 weeks. Maybe I’m just in a bad or critical mood, but from my viewpoint, this episode sucked. I basically still have the same feelings and thoughts I did with the first installment. (Eps 2 and 3 were slightly more entertaining. I don’t know why; maybe because Bela and Belo are better looking and smarter than Bem?)

These were my main problems. 1) Not enough dialogue/lines, and what’s there is awkward or just plain bad. 2) Characters that are hard to relate to because we don’t know what they’re thinking (like Sophia and Bela). 3) Villains that are impossible to take seriously, and just make me snicker or laugh. 4) The fight scenes are kind of boring/ not creative. About the only things Bem has going for it are the good music and the awesome opening song.

It’s hard to believe that people in the Outside— or at least authorities like police — don’t know of the existence of youkai and modified humans. I’m wondering if the higher-ups know about it, but attempt to conceal the information. Why would they conceal it? Because they are youkai and modified humans. In almost every episode so far, we’ve seen a council of people/ creatures sitting around a long table in the dark, discussing the existence of Bem, Bela, and Belo. In one past episode, somebody mentioned a council that rules the Outside from the shadows. These two must be one and the same. And it seems like their leader (name unknown) is a youkai woman who means business.

I’d love to give you my early looks/guesses of the MBTI types of this show’s characters. Unfotunately, Bem is so far terrible with character development, so I have no idea what type anyone is. Except maybe Sonia. She sort of screams ISTJ. Anyway, that’s all I’ve got on my mind for Bem episode 4. I really, truly appreciate you reading this post. Especially since my episode reviews of the past few days haven’t been so great. So, thank you! This is 7mononoke at Anime Rants, wishing you wellness and safety.
